Back in 1915, one-hundred-four years ago, the National Dairy Council (NDC) began. In the years 1937 and 1938, the NDC created a promotion, called National Milk Month which was celebrated from June 10-July 10. Then in 1939, eighty years ago, the promotion became June Dairy Month. The basis of these promotions was to encourage cooperation between farm families and other community members. Over the years, this has evolved also into the importance of educating the public on the value of dairy products as nutritious and affordable food. Whether your favorite dairy food is milk, cheese, yogurt, or ice cream (I love them all!), or any other of the many delicious dairy products: ENJOY! ENJOY! ENJOY!
